Having trouble moving checkers in TrigammonX? We're here to help!
TrigammonX supports interactive checker movement using a mouse or touchscreen. Occasionally, you may experience difficulty selecting, dragging, or dropping checkers.
Here are some troubleshooting tips.

1. How Do I Move a Checker?

During your turn:

  1. Roll your dice.
  2. Select a checker belonging to the active player.
  3. Look for the available legal-move indicators.
  4. Drag the checker toward a legal destination.
  5. Release the checker over the intended point.
A checker can only move when the destination is legal under the game's movement rules.

2. My Checker Won't Move.

If a checker isn't responding, check the following:

  • Is it your turn? You can only move checkers belonging to the active player.
  • Have you rolled the dice? Movement normally requires an active dice roll.
  • Is the destination legal? A blocked point may prevent movement.
  • Do you have checkers on the bar? You may need to re-enter those before moving other checkers.
  • Have you used all available dice? Your turn may already be complete.
Try selecting another checker to see whether legal destinations are available.

3. Drag-and-Drop Problems on an iPad or Tablet.

If you're using a touchscreen:

  • Touch the checker directly rather than the space beside it.
  • Drag your finger smoothly toward the destination.
  • Keep your finger on the screen until you reach the intended point.
  • Release over the legal destination.
If the page scrolls instead of moving the checker, try starting your drag from the centre of the checker. You may also find that landscape orientation provides a more comfortable playing area.

4. The Checker Returns to Its Original Position.

If a checker moves back to where it started, the destination may not have been accepted.

Possible reasons include:
  • The destination is blocked.
  • The move doesn't match the available dice.
  • You released the checker outside the permitted destination area.
  • Another movement is required before that destination can be reached.
Look for the coloured legal-move indicators to identify available destinations.

5. The Legal-Move Rings Aren't Appearing.

If you're expecting highlighted destinations but can't see them:

  1. Confirm that it's your turn.
  2. Check that you've rolled the dice.
  3. Select a checker belonging to the active player.
  4. Check the game's highlighting settings.
  5. Try another checker if no legal destinations are available.
If legal moves should be available but no indicators appear, this may be a technical issue. Please report it so we can investigate.

6. Problems Using a Mouse or Trackpad.

If you're playing on a desktop or laptop computer:

  • Click directly on the checker.
  • Hold the mouse button while dragging.
  • Release over a legal destination.
  • Check that the browser window is responding normally.
If you're using a trackpad, make sure its dragging behaviour is configured correctly in your device settings.

7. Try Another Browser

If touchscreen or mouse controls continue to behave unexpectedly, try another modern browser.

Examples include:
  • Apple Safari.
  • Google Chrome.
  • Mozilla Firefox.
  • Microsoft Edge.
This can help identify whether the problem is browser-specific.

8. Avoid Losing Your Game Progress.

If you're in the middle of a game, avoid refreshing the browser or clearing stored website data unless necessary. Refreshing may interrupt your session or affect unsaved progress. If possible, record the issue with a screenshot before trying additional troubleshooting steps.

9. Still Having Problems?

Please submit a support ticket so we can investigate.

Please include:
  • Your device and model.
  • Your browser.
  • Your TrigammonX game version.
  • Whether you're using a mouse, trackpad, or touchscreen.
  • Whether the problem affects all checkers or only certain moves.
  • The dice values rolled when the issue occurred.
  • A screenshot or short screen recording, if possible.
This information is especially useful when investigating movement-related problems.
